Where did it come from?
Richard C. Niemtzow, MD is a Doctor in the American armed forces. He developed Battlefield Acupuncture in 2001. It has proved so successfull that is has become part of a medics training. He researched acupuncture to come up with a means of treating troops quickly and efficiently on the battlefield. His research has led him to develop a basic system of simple acupuncture points that are effective in 85% of cases. I have used the methods he describes in my clinics and so far i have found it to be much more than 85% effective.
What does Battlefield Acupuncture Treat?
Battlefield acupuncture seems particularly good at treating musculoskeletal problems. Especially of the neck,shoulders, arms, back and legs. Pain relief is usually almost instant (up to 2 minutes to take effect) and can last from a few hours to 5 days and in some cases even longer.
What does Battlefield Acupuncture treament involve?
Battlefield Acupuncture treatment uses acupuncture points on the ear. I use normal acupuncture needles to get the desired results and the usually replace them with the recommended Gold plated ASP needles which are semi permanent and drop out of their own accord. When covered with the tiny plasters supplied with the needles they can often stay in for longer.
The beauty about these needles is that they continually stimulate the point to offer sustained pain relief.

Osteoporosis is a form of arthritis that makes movement painfull this is often accompanied by a loss of range of movement because of the pain it caused while trying to move. Over time the arthritis progresses and restricts movement even more.
Battlefield Acupuncture usually takes away most if not all of this pain allowing for a much better range of movement. This means that the rate of progression is slowed leading to a better quality of life.
